Join the Lucas County Young Democrats on the downstairs patio and enjoy some sunshine on Cinco De Mayo. We will have some traditional Mexican cuisine as well as some other fun appetizers like Greek tacos and deconstructed gyro nachos. Amelia and the rest of the wonderful staff at the Attic are preparing fresh fruit margaritas for the event. For every margarita and LCYD drink special purchased, the Young Dems will receive $1 towards the fundraiser.

This month the Anthony Wayne area Democratic club will welcome Whitehouse, Ohio Mayor Don Atkinson as our speaker. Mayor Atkinson will share his experiences as a Democrat serving in local government. He served on the Anthony Wayne school board for six years before becoming mayor of Whitehouse. All are welcome to attend!

The Oregon Democratic Club is an official club of the Lucas County Democratic Party. It works to recruit, screen, endorse and elect Democratic candidates whose jurisdiction includes Oregon, Ohio. The club meets on the first Thursday of every month at 8 pm at Firehouse #1 at the corner of Wynn and Seaman Roads. All who consider themselves to be Democrats are invited to attend.

Join us for this Open House & Forum to discuss the 2019 Election and our process for endorsing candidates.
Party Chairman Kurt Young and Bryan Latta, Chair of our Screening Committee, will be there to discuss the process of asking for the party’s endorsement and support. All potential candidates are welcome to attend.
In the meantime, for a list of what offices are on the ballot this coming year, go to our website lucascountydemocraticparty.com/2019-screening-process/ You can download our screening packet right from that page. When you look at the packet, you’ll see that we want to know about you, what would make you a good candidate and public servant, how you are connected in the community, how you would campaign and of course, we hope, win and serve.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is January 18th at 4 PM. We will then forward all applications to our Screening Committee, who will contact interested candidates and schedule them for screening interviews.
Also, if your plans are more long-term or you’re looking to get more involved with the campaign process, the Lucas County Democratic Party offers monthly training sessions that are free and open to local Democrats. They are on the fourth Monday of the month at Headquarters. Check out our website and Facebook pages for details on what session is when.
